Looks like it's my turn for disable baby parrots this year. Friend with the alex that chomps on her babies when they hatch was keeping a close eye on the hatch date. Made arrangements to bring the eggs over before they hatched. Yesterday they were eggs this morning there were 3 babies & 1 egg. Well he dropped the 3 babies & 1 pipping egg in this morning. He was so proud that he got to the babies before any damage was done but alas when i checked each baby 1 little chick has missing toes & the tips of both wings are gone. At least it's alive & is eating well. He/she has a good chance of surviving.

I will post pics when they have settled better.

Really can't say Kim. This is the 3rd year i have had to help save the babies. The first 2 seasons she killed all the chicks. 3rd season we still were not sure the hen was to blame because he had a mixed aviary. I managed to save 2 babies that year, 1 chick from each clutch. Last year we took the eggs just before hatch & saved all chicks from both clutches. She doubled clutched. So 7 chicks all have a home. Now it's these 4 little ones & most likely another clutch will hatch before i have weaned this lot. So for now i am pretty much grounded. 2 hourly feeds, 10 feeds per 24 hours.

We don't have any history on this hen she was found & not claimed. We are starting to wonder whether or not she was released because she killed her chicks. Not a nice thought though. :(

Not great pics but pics anyway. The last pic is of the little guy with the wing tips & toes missing.
